About me

View across southeast Cornwall from Kit Hill, looking towards Plymouth, Devon, UK

Hello, welcome to Partly Dream Country! I'm Hayley, and I'm a student at the University of Exeter. I've just returned from my Study Abroad placement in Germany, so I'm rediscovering all the best things about my home region.

My posts are inspired by the towns, coastlines and countryside of Britain's stunning West Country, with my favourite parts - Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset - lying within the borders of Thomas Hardy's fictional county of Wessex. Hardy, struck by its beauty, famously described the region as 'partly real, partly dream country' - hence the blog's name.

As I head back to Exeter for the final year of my degree, I'll be blogging about life in the South West, including all the best places to eat and drink, as well as ideas for days and nights out: all on a student budget, of course!

If you'd like to get in touch with me, you can do so via email at info@hayleyjohns.com, take a look at my profiles on Instagram or Twitter, or simply leave a comment on one of my posts.
